We just started our new unit on short stories.
Students now have the opportunity to write their own short story (see more info on the assignment here). I am so excited to see students' creativity and descriptive writing in this activity. Here are the important dates to remember:
Starting from scratch is the hardest part, so here is my suggestion: get to know your character first. Get to know them more than you even think is necessary. When you do this, you will be better prepared to anticipate what conflicts your character would face, how they would work through them, what they would say, who they would converse with, etc. Here are a few questions to answer about your character to better understand him/her: First, ask general questions:
