We want to develop into active, life-long readers. To do this, we will discuss genres, authors, book awards, and habits and strategies of efficient readers throughout the school year.
Every Friday we will have "Free Reading Friday". This will be an opportunity for you to read silently in class and also update me on your person reading. As a class, we will have a reading goal for each student to read at least 20 books throughout the entire school year. (this goal was inspired by the book The Book Whisperer). To accomplish this goal, plan to read at least 20 minutes every day, seven days a week. Students will keep track of their completed books on a worksheet that can be found here. |
